I recently bought a 2001 Subaru Base Outback .. my 5th Subaru since 1995. The car has basically all standard equipment plus both the All Weather Package abd the CD Player/ Tweeter kit. It also has one thing that puzzles me .. It has gray LEATHER upholstery. Leather upholstery in a base Outback

 

The seats and door panels are of top quality and look to be factory installed, but the parts man at my local dealer said they might be an aftermarket item,

 

Does anyone have any information about a leather option in 2001?

the original buyer probably had a professional install it. it is very common for dealerships to have people contracted to do this kind of work.
