okay guys i think i am going to actually try something mechanical on my own. i have searched the message board for all the information on r12 to r134 ac change and i have convinced myself that i should attempt this. my major problem with car repair is a lack of confidence and the idea of "i got it apart and i can't get it back together" syndrome. wish me luck and any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated. i will keep you posted.

should not be hard at all. make sure you check how much freon you put in after its converted... with r134 should not be more than 2 bottles. it would help to check other sites for a step-by-step analysis. heres one, although its a range rover site:
