August 30, 200421 yr What is the outside diameter of the throttle body? or any of the later EJ SUBARU TB's for that matter... these have MAP sensors, no MAF...and the hood scoop is right there...ive seen this done before. Skip's done it....Cone on TB and hood scoop cut out. the only filter I have is one that is 3" ID. Thanks! WJM
August 30, 200421 yr The cone on the throttle body trick has been tried by LOTS of 2000/2001 2.5RS owners, and everyone I've seen who has done this later went on to a different setup. The two main problems with this setup are (a) too loud (though "loud" is a relative term) and ( removing the plenum chamber that is normally mounted on the throttle body kills the cars low end. Long intakes and/or plenum chambers in the intake are ideal for low end, short intakes are great for high end. For the street or autocross you lose too much low end to make a "short ram" intake all that beneficial.
