Surfdougyfresh
I own a '98 outback wagon and after ordering new wires that don't match the originals, I wonder if my engine is the 2.5 I thought it was. The VIN is JF1BG9LFBWG095772. The number stamped on the engine is 223988. The W in the VIN matches the '98 model year, but the 9 isn't identified as an engine type in my haynes manual. The car is located overseas which might explain some differences. Any ideas? Did the '98 even come with a 2.2? Anyone want to swap wires?
sea#3
If you pop the hood open and look past the left /rear of the alternator you should see a casting identifing the engine size on the block EJ18 - 1800cc EJ22 - 2200 cc EJ25 - 2500 cc SEA#
