EA81 sucks oil?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, this is my second car with an EA81 N/A, but what i dont understand is that its drinking a quart of oil per week, but there is no sign of bad leaks (just typical valve cover seapage) and when my buddies follow me they say that there is not even a "puff" of smoke even when im hammer down. my 84 2 door never drank this much oil, any ideas?:banghead:

how hard you driving it? what kind of weekly mileage? does it smoke a lot on the start and then clear up?

check your PCV valve on top of the intake. Sometimes when those go out, it tends to "suck" oil from the crankcase which is followed by a big blue cloud of smoke behind you

i dont drive it that hard, and no it doesent smoke at all even at startup, i meen i spotted a small drip at the valve covers, but not enough to make it use up a quart, and my weekly mileage is anywhere from 200-250 @32 mpg

Valve covers leak a lot more oil than you think. As does the oil pan which likely needs replaced if the Valve Covers need it. Also check your oil pump seals and the oil pressure sending unit threads. You can stop oil leaks on an ea81 for under $25 in parts.
