Help with AC problem on 2005 Outback

Featured Replies

My girlfriend recently purchased a 2005 Outback Sport. Since the day she bought it, she has complained of excess noise when the AC is on. When the compressor turns on and off, usually about once every couple of minutes, the sound of freon ( I guess it it technically R-134a) going through the expansion valve is quite noticable. The dealer replaced the expansion value, but the problem persists. I have test driven a couple of other 2005 Outback Sports, but they don't appear to be as loud. The dealer refuses to fix the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? This wooshing noise drives her crazy, and makes my life miserable as a result.

The hiss is normal. If it's very loud I would suspect that the refrigerant level is low.
