New Cats, Happy Car!

Featured Replies

Just had new cats put on my 96 Legacy, and I can already tell it's a happier car! I can zip up hills again, accelerate from stop lights, and don't watch my rpms climb a zillion times faster than my mphs.

Filled the tank, and will have to wait until I use it up to see if Twobaru goes back to 24-26 mpg (it's been getting 18 mpg lately).

WOW! Were both cats visiably bad? How did you know to replace them? Also, did you HAVE to replace them both? I'm thinking about replacing the two in my 95 with just one. I know for the Loyales the they had two cats because they weren't three way cats.

The CEL went on, got diagnosed, and then later went off all by itself. (Magic!) the reason I finally had them replaced is that I started really losing power, the engine was acting very wimpy, and my gas mileage went waaaaay down. My uncle has a Subie that goes through cats often, and he told me to get them replaced PDQ.
