Timing covers, to use or not to use? that is the question.

Right now I am not using the covers on my 1991 legacy SOHC. Any problems with this?

Similar advice as for air filters...

 

"You don't have to use air filters if your plane never lands or your boat never comes in to port."

 

Street only driving, willing to change belts on the fly if needed? I might run without covers for the "convenience". Any chance of getting debris and fluids into the belt area, prob should use protection.
