October 26, 200421 yr Greetings everyone, This is my first post as I'm new to the Subaru owners' world. Recently got a '99 Silver Outback, with the standard options. I wanted to upgrade the stereo/cassette unit with a Subaru 6 CD in-dash changer that came off a 2002 or 2003 WRX. I notice that there are 2 large connectors on the back of the 6 CD unit and there is only one on the current stereo. I've searched the older posts and have read that the 2nd plug-in isn't necessary. What was it's purpose, then? As the "new" unit doesn't seem to work with just the one plug connected, I fear I may have been sold a bum radio, or perhaps there are some functions the 2nd plug provides. Well, look forward to the replies of experienced Subaru people. Thanks, Luis
October 26, 200421 yr I have a 97 OB and did the exact same thing. I put in the Subaru / Panasonic P123 6CD/tape/radio unit. It works just fine. If I'm not mistaken, the second plug is for the optional under-the-passenger-seat subwoofer. Commuter
