1997 outback engine rebuild kit

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Just want to know if anyone has recently purchased an engine rebuild kit(with pistons and rings) for a 1997 legacy outback. I'm having problems locating a complete kit. I would also like to know what kit mfg'r is good and which kits to stay away from. I'm also thinking about replacing the clutch while the motor is out.....so a good recommendation for a clutch pack is also appreciated. My car has 166,000 miles on it and I belive the head gasket went because of the oil in my coolant overflow tank. The motor has also developed a loud metal on metal knocking sound, which I belive is a connecting rod. The motor still starts(and runs smooth) and is not seized up. Any help is greatly appreciated.
