Keyless entry........

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone know if keyless entry can be added to a '97 outback that didn't have it to begin with? Would it be hard to install?

thanks!

I don't know about doing it yourself. That depends on your skill.

I have a 97 OB as well. What I found out was that these cars were not prewired for keyless entry. (That started in 98 I believe.) It was going to cost a bundle from the dealer. I ended up adding a Viper Alarm / Remote Start / Keyless entry for about the same price. I've been quite happy with mine. After seeing what had to be done for this, I'm glad I didn't tackle it myself. It was worth paying them for 3 hours of labour to hook everything up.

For the remote start, do yo have a stick or auto? I'm also wondering about that for my OB.

FYI: I have the 2.5 with the Blown HG and rod knock. I found that the bad rod is on the opposite side of the blown HG. At least this what I think at this point(I didn't get the driver side head off today). Anyhow, I hope o find out how bad the crank is on this thing tommorow. Ican tell right now the piston slap is about 1/8 of an inch. :( I hope I can still use the crank.........
