November 12, 200421 yr That is my first post here ... I am planning to clean interior of my '01 Forester using a steam carpet cleaning machine called "The Rug Doctor". I am going to use a hand tool attachment, Upholstery Cleaner and Odor Remover solutions (the same brand as the machine). Is it save to use on carpet, seats and the cloth on the ceiling ?
November 12, 200421 yr Doing the cloth on the interior roof may be risky. The heat and water might just screw up the adhesion on the material to what's underneath it, and that would suck.
November 18, 200421 yr Author I have cleaned it and that "old car smell" is gone now. I took the chances and cleaned (carefully) the cloth on the interior roof as well and it seems to be fine. Since my car have a moon roof, it's mechanism takes space between the roof and the cloth, therefore most of the roof cloth just hangs attached to the roof in few points. Thanks for advice.
