dalecherokee
I have a 2001 Forester and for 2 years never smelled exhaust from cars in front of me --with the air recirculation on....For the last year this has been a problem. The dealer has looked at it on 2 occasions and cannot provide a solution.Any ideas ? frag
My 2 cents: when you push on the recirc. button with the fan at 3 for example, you'll hear a definite change in the pitch of the sound the rushing air makes. If no change it would be a sign that the air flap is not closing properly. Hope that helps a litte.
mwatt
when you press the recirc button, you should hear air "rushing" under the passenger side of the dash, below the glove compartment (if system is working properly). By the way, you're not using "recirc" unless the A/C is on, right? (Using "recirc" with the compressor off allows excessive moisture to build up inside the vehicle and will lead to window fogging.) Also---does the liftgate latch securely? Is the liftgate opening surround weatherstrip damaged in any way (Thereby allowing your vehicle's exhaust to be sucked inside...)?
