I dont have HLA's in my old EA81, but I do keep hearing the stories. It just so happened that I was counting parts at the harley dealership yesterday and came accross these little square rings called hydraulic seals. When I asked what they were for I was told that you take apart the HLA and put it in the bottom as a spacer to help the lifter pump up quicker.

 

Maybe this will help with the tick of death? Has anyone tried this?
