ea81t timing check

Featured Replies

My haynes workshop manual has very little on this for the mpfi enignes. It does say: 20 btdc with idle switch on and test connector connected. All very well, but what test connector, and where on earth is the idle switch?

Also, should i be plugging the vacuum advance as normal? (the manual doesn't say so...)

Not sure about the EA81T, but on the EA82Ts the test connector is a pair of single wires with green connectors that live under an interior trim panel below the steering column.

I have never figured out where the "idle switch" is, but had been getting the impression it only existed on SPFI. Sorry, no help at all here. :-\

Forget the test connectors,forget haynes.

Spec is 15 +/- 2 BTDC at 800 rpm w/vacuum plugged and the single wire connector from the altitude switch disconnected.

(near the coil on NA models)

idle switch is built into the "tps"
