Does anybody know if you can replace just the ball and socket on the end of the hatch lift struts? Mine are all rusty and the one pops on and off with no effort.

you should be able to order just that bit from subaru

 

you're talking about the lower portion of the rear hatch struts

with the ball socket in it?

While on this subject, does anyone know an easy way to pop the socket off the ball end? I'll probably need to replace those struts within a year or two.
