EA82T head cracking, not your average question...

Featured Replies

ok so I finally got the heads pulled form the RX and I'm inspecting them for cracks. They have the usual cracks between the valves but I'm looking at the cracks into the exhaust ports to see if that could also be a ploblem of mine. Keep in mind these are gen 2 heads from my '89 RX with 208k miles on them. So anyways, I'm looking at them and they seem to both have cracks in the exhaust ports BUT they're not in the center of the exhaust ports like I've seen or heard of. They are both off to one side like closer to wall of the exhaust port. Below, I have a pic (not a very good one) of where they are cracked. I'm also planning on getting the pressure checked as well but I wanted to ask about this here first. Ok pic time.... (sorry for the crappy image)

Any ideas?

yeah I know its hard to see but the base of the arrow is where the crack seems to be. Does anyone know of a good place around Laramie to get them pressure tested?
