DuraBlend Motor Oil

Featured Replies

Has anyone used Valvoline DuraBlend motor oil ? It's a synthetic blend motor. I have been thinking of using it in my 2000 Forester with 38K miles <5W30>. Any comments ? Thanks !

In your fairly new Subaru, it should be fine.

In my 14-year-old Subaru, it got into my cylinders and out my tailpipe.

Into your cylinders? Thats ok, maybe the problem was that it slipped past your piston rings??

:-)

I am sure Durablend will be fine. Stick to the correct intervals.

It's true. Synthetic or part-synthetic oils are "slipperier" because of smaller molecular structure of synthetics....thus, it slips past piston rings (and seals, and gaskets) more easily than conventional oil....

Using a blend in a car with 38k on it should be ok. Synthetic oils used in older engines tend to actually clean out the works thus exposing weeknesses in gaskets and rings. You shouldn't have any problems using a blend or a full sythentic. The real rule of thumb is to change your oil with filter every 3000 to 5000 miles...

I used that stuff at 232K and it was gone in no time. I never saw oil leave my engine so quick. I stick with the non-synth stuff now.

This goes for you too...PHAEDRAS!!! Watch your level brother!
