what's involved in programming or reprogramming a remote purchased off ebay?

most listings tell you to contact the dealer to do the job. Is that necessary?

I recently purchased a new remote on eBay, and it works fine. Just make sure that the Part No. is exactly the same; there are several variants out there.

 

The reprogramming was simple; the procedure is given in the Owner's Manual.
