I'm swapping spfi engine (88 GL) for a mpfi (85 XT)...

I'm swapping spfi engine (88 GL) for a mpfi (85 XT)...

Are the wiring connections and signals to the engine the same for both? Can I use my wiring harness on the mpfi and just swap the computers?

-Mike

no. one injector, opposed to 4 injectors to controll.

no worky at all.

you gotta swap the computer and wiring with the engine.

Thanks for the info. I pulled the computer and wiring, now I just have to carefully disassemble my dash. The other car was going to the crusher so all I needed was a crow bar to disassemble that dash. That was actually fun! :-)

i surely wouldnt tear apart your stock dash for this.

use the mpfi harness and computer as a stand alone piece of the car.

you can easily wire in two relays, to the mpfi harness, and have it operated by a switch. then you stick your computer under the dash somewhere, or use the long xt harness, and stick it behind your passenger seats, or under them.

doin it this way, you could have the engine runing on the floor, and you only have to wire in your stock spfi guages, which will all work, just like they did.

Excellent! :) The easier the better. I’ll be dropping the “new” engine in, in a couple of days, the weather is turning to snow for the next day or two.:-\ Thanks again for the input; I’m really trying to keep this suby alive. She’s been a great little 4-wheeler for five years now.
