Phaedras Posted February 15, 2005 Share Posted February 15, 2005 Heard about the Idle Air Control Valve (that round bar at the front of the throttle body) being a common problem, causing weird idle. After taking one at a local junkyard apart (my car is a daily driver) I see that it has a motor on the left side, and a hollow tube with a rod and spring at the other. I'm wondering how I can get in there to clean everything out. Is there a way to dissemble it or should I just spray in some carb cleaner and hope for the best? hooziewhatsit Posted February 16, 2005 Share Posted February 16, 2005 When I cleaned the one on my wifes loyale, I used vice grips to break loose the screws. Then I took the whole thing out and hit it pretty good with carb cleaner. I'd imagine you could just hit with carb cleaner while it's still in though.
