update: pb blaster didnt work :( Best penetrating oil for rusted screws?

Featured Replies

I read this thread looking for something to loosen a big rusty bolt. PB Blaster, liquid wrench, and WD-40 didn't work. So I clamped a big vice grips down as hard as I could to avoid stripping the head and hit it with a sledge hammer (the BIG kind). That worked.:brow:

Here is another vote for Kroil. Its a best kept secret. Can you imagine a penetrating oil that can get between the copper fouling and the steel in a high powered benchrest rifles barrel. the copper is practically fused to the steel. Kroil gets between.

Thats where I got turned on to the stuff. Works like magic when all others fail. Rust is no match. Let it sit. But avoid the fumes.

Yes, popular in the aircraft industry too.

Yield is the only one I havn't tried, will look for it.

whast the full name of the Yield stuff and who makes it? I can use my business license from work to get a few cans if they sell it in Alaska..
