We were driving and came to a stop light. All of a sudden the car stalled and and when we restarted it the check engine light was on. It still remains on when we start the car. We were thinking it might have something to do with the idle sensor unit or maybe tps? The car seems to run fine when driving, however, it's a little gerkey when it shifts throught the gears. Any clues?

It would be best to get the code read to see what is going on. A good parts store may be able to do this for free. Don't ignore the warning light, it is trying to tell you something about the engine condition.
