Key Stuck in Ignition/Trunk May be Stuck Too.

Featured Replies

The key to my 97 Impreza L is stuck in the ignition. It can turn and all, but it seems as if the shifter won't go all the way into park or something to release it. Any ideas, or similar stories?

Also, the trunk may be stuck shut too. This is a new purchase for us, so I haven't gone all through it. But that is what I've seen so far.

Any suggestions?

Katrina

Not to post the obvious, but I had an AT car once (a Subaru) and the key would often get stuck in the ignition unless the shifter was pressed forward really hard or the steering wheel was moved back and forth a few times.

Aside from that, there is an electronic switch that can go bad, and there might even be a button on the bottom of your key cylinder to release the key in these situations.
