how do i take off the turbo to replace it?

Featured Replies

i got the up and down pipes disconnected. im just seem to be attached to some water and oil hoses from the bottom. how the heck do i disconnect them? is a turbo replacment really that hard?

No it is not that hard

The lines you are having a problem reaching can be disconnected at their respective other ends.

This should allow you enough slack to lift it and remove them from the unit.

BTW

Good idea to change the lower coolant line with a factory replacement.

It is a special hose to endure the heat in this area.

undo the water inlet hose from the metal tube on the side of the head. the oil line comes off at the back of the head, 14mm bolt. dont lose the copper washers!

the turbo mounting bracket itself can be removed from the head to help the rubber hose clear

I planned this out in my head when I was at work before I did it the other day, and it took 20 min. take of the air boots or whatever, then unbolt the exhaust. the coolant lines are easier to deal with if you just disconnect the banjo bolts and not the hoses, but I clamped the hoses, so coolant doesn't spill out everywhere. But those can be a pain to put back on.
