Oil on Sparkplug Wire "Tubes"

Featured Replies

2000 Outback Station Wagon, 4 Cyl with @ 130,000 Miles.

I went to change the sparkplugs and pulled the 1st "cap/tube" on the passeger side. It was covered in oil.

Oil didn't look contaminated with coolant.

Any ideas? Costs???

There are rubber type gaskets that seal the tubes. They do tend to leak after time and milage. Not sure of the cost.

2000 LegacyGT

Mine were replaced at about 70,000 miles under warranty. I think they have to pull the valve covers to get to them.

Just had that done on my 01 OBW (72K). Only on the passenger side, the dirver's side was fine.

Cost to replace the pass side VCG and the O-Rings was $180 + Tax
