driveshaft question

Can I pully my driveshaft out and drive around with FWD only for a while to try and isolate a noise, or would that be bad? (88 GL wagon - dual range 5 sp.).

Thanks.

Yes you can. I did on my 85. I don't know if your 88 has a two piece shaft with a carrier bearing or not. If it does, pull the back part, the one that comes out of the rear diff. If you pull the short part that comes out of the trans, the trans will leak. Hope this helps.
