front height adjustment/alighnment

So of course my 85 wagon has adjustable front (are these coilovers or strutts?)

Anyway, they are adjustable.

 

And of course, bringing them up from the lowest position affects alighnment.

 

My question is this:

 

Specifically in what way?

 

I'm trying to visualize if it affect castor, cambor, or toe, or some of each.

 

Can't get my minds eye to see it properly, but I suspect it will only affect camber/castor, not toe.

 

I get toe in and toe out.

 

But I can't remember which is castor which is castor.

 

Tips appreciated.

I think it will affect camber, the tire's lean in or out from the body. If you have seen pictures of prerunner trucks comming off of jumps, thet is an extreem version of what happens when you extend the struts. Extending the struts by raising the lower spring perch will increase CV joint wear, because it is spending more time at a greater angle. Lowering cars often produces better handling, bucause the top of the tire leans inward, giving more tread contact when cornering, so raising would make the top of the tire lean outward, so the outside of the tread would wear faster. I'm sure others will chime in with more helpful information.

hey pyro i was gonna do my front ones as well but i think they may be most of the way already i noticed that my front wheels are tipped in a little bit on the bottom. after your thread on the rear i went and took a look at mine and my rears werent even on the first setting so after i get my cherry picker and tools outta the back after i fix my leaks im gonna crank those all the way up
