I'm losing brake fluid, and it appears that leaking fittings on my ABS pump are to blame.

 

Anyone have a source for a salvaged ABS pump for my car?

Are you getting a warning light? Does it work?

 

Are these fittings able to be tightened with an 1/8 turn of a flair wrench?

 

ABS pumps are relatively, hell no, very expensive.

No "ABS" light, just a brake light every coupla weeks due to low fluid levels. It's pretty clear that there's a leak at one of the couplings. I tried to tighten the couplings, but they won't budge, and given that the housing appears to be aluminum I don't want to torque down on them too hard, anyway.

I've heard this before. Just how expensive are we talking? Let me put it this way: ABS adds how much to the cost of a new car?

I haven't been able to find ABS pumps in any auto parts stores.

3 cyclinders between the upper and lower blocks

I have a 1995 Legacy and I am having this exact problem. I have been losing brake fluid for a while and couldn't find where it was going. I finally found the leak in the ABS hydraulic unit. It is part number 26731AA200, which I gather is a "2E". I found some online parts but nothing under $900. It seems like there should be a way to fix a leak for less than $900. Anybody have experience with these ABS units? It is hard to tell where the leak is on the unit exactly. I don't think it is from where the lines enter, though. It seems to be from the side or bottom.

I replaced the unit with a used one I bought here. It's a simple bolt-on job that took me about 45 minutes, then another 1.5 hrs to bleed all the brake lines.
