Barrett_Outback Sedan
I posted a thread on this about a month ago...my car, automatic 2000 subaru outback sedan, stalled about a month ago at a stop light. When I started it back up the check engine light was on and stayed on for about 2 days. It went off and nothing seemed to happend...until now. Yesterday I was driving, came to a stop, and the car stalled. I tuned it back on, but this time the check engine light didn't come on. The weirdest thing about it is now when I go to use my keyless entry to unlock the doors it's makes the sound like it unlocks, but it doesn't unlock! I don' know if the two could be related or not. I talked with some people that thought it could be the alternator, but I always thought that alternators either worked or they didn't, I didn't know that they could "slowly" go out? Another idea was the idle control...if this was the case, the I don't think it would be related to the unlocking problem. Any Ideas out there??? I think I'm going to go get my alternator tested today.
Cougar
There may be a bad power connection to the lock solenoids causing them to not work correctly. Does the system work using the manual lock switch ok? If so, then the problem would seem to be with the remote connection. Alternators can be intermittant so having yours checked would be good. You may want to find out what the stored codes are in the ECU memory and then have them reset to be ready for the next problem.
