How should the O2 monitor light flash?

Featured Replies

I thought it should be flickering on and off very fast? Mine turns on and off quite slowly, about the pace of the flashes the computer makes when it gives you a code, but still irregular. Does this indicate a problem?

I can't speak for Subarus in specific, but generally an oxygen sensor cycling fewer than 4-5 times a second indicates an old O2 sensor.

Hey Ross---I suspect the Soobs' ECU LED only flashes a sampling of the much faster cycling O2 sensor. Yours sounds about right. If it never flashes or flashes on alot longer than off, then ya got a problem.:)

Hey hti---Without a lit MIL I'd say your LED and/or circuit is malfunctioning.

Yeah, i would think that if the o2 sensor was that bad it would bring up a code 32.

Good point.

Hey HTi---Were you able and now are you able to read any codes on the MIL?

just looking at those codes again - code 32 means that the o2 circuit is open, so it may not detect a dead o2 sensor, depending on what its doing.
