Hello:

 

I have an awful smell coming from the engine bay. It doesn't smell like oil, rather like brake linings. However, I do not hear any scraping going down the road. My clutch seems to slip in fourth and fifth sometimes, especially when it's cold outside or going up a hill. Could this smell be the clutch? It seems to happen at any speed. Is it a wet or dry clutch and what should I check?

Burned clutches smell awesome.

 

And when I say awesome, I mean god-awful.

burning diff fluid is pretty heinous too.. check your differential fluid level
