I prefer the older radio's myself. If it is a cobra, see where it was made. The ones made in the phillipinnes(i think i spelled that right) are some of the most desirable to have. I would just get some new coax and antenna and see if the radio is working good. Also, in your buggy, it might not be a bad idea to mount it somwhere where it would be protected from the elements.(Radios don't like water inside of them too much :) )
