I know i've done it before without using the subaru tool, but i cant for the life of me remember how....

The way we did it at my old shop was to take a longer bolt and grind the Hex end so that it could go done the hole on the pin then hook to the back side of the pin. We would then attach the threaded end to a slide hammer and tap them out.
