Wanted to get a Fram Air Hog for a '05 Outback 2.5i but they don't make one. Anyone know of a similar air filter that would fit?

Try the K&N ones.

Thanks but K& N will not fit the '05 Outback.

That is odd. It says on their website that there is a air filter that will work in the 2005 Outback. If you want more air, maybe you should look into a cold air intake system or just rigging an open air intake onto the existing intake and getting rid of the air box.

Talked to K&N and they told me that they put out one that will fit the end of last month. I had been given thw wrong info from some dealers. Problem is that they sold out quickly and they don't know when new ones will be produced. Y

You were right. Thanks for the info!
