Brake grinding and rattling noise found

Featured Replies

well...for awhile I'd been hearing a jangling sound from the rear of the car for awhile...couldn't find anything with the suspension or exhaust. Then yesterday I started hearing a griding when applying the brakes....I'd done the front not to long ago so figured the rear just needed doing. I check the rear passenger and I have a lot of pad left. I check the rear driver's side. I undo the lower bolt that allows the caliper to pivot upward and the whole caliper just comes right out. That upper bolt that is usually fixed (don't know the official name) apparently sheared right in two. So, now the upper part of the caliper isn't secure...I think it is boucing when I hit heavy bumps....

Anybody got a source for a replacement?

you looking for used,i take.have you checked with local j/ys

the part your talking about is pretty easy to replace.two bolts an your done.(along with removing tire an brake caliper)

It sounds like just a bolt is sheared, maybe a guide pin/slide pin? Those should be replaceable.
