CEL Code 33 and Cruise Control Not Working

Featured Replies

I have a 1990 Legacy (manual transmission). The CEL comes on after about 5 minutes of driving. The abnormal voltage from the Speed Sensor (Code 33) is the only fault code showing up. The speedometer works just fine. The cruise control stopped working when the problem first started. Any ideals? Thanks!

the speed sensor is the electronic part, which seems to have failed. The speedometer is the mechanical gauge that is driven by the speedo cable. The speed sensor is part of this assy. This will cause the cruise control to stop working as the CC requires this input to tell how fast the car is going. I can probably get you one (well, a used instrument cluster). PM me if interested.

Problem fixed. It was a wire that came out of it's connector under the dash.
