I pulled out the spark plug caps and noticed oil on them near the top where i presume the valve cover gasket is. Am I seeing a valve cover gasket leak to all four spark plug chambers? incognito Posted September 7, 2003 Share Posted September 7, 2003 if its like my EJ251 its the "o" ring in the valve cover gasket set. It keeps oil from going down in the spark plug holes. BEWARE! not fixing this will cause oil to touch the plug wires and plugs, making them foul out. (If this is the problem) Ive been quoted $250 a side for parts/labor for the valve cover gaskets. They come in a ste of like 4 or something? BTW, if both valve cover gaskets are blown, yes, all 4 spark plug holes will get oil. Chances are tho, yours is just one side.
