When an auto tranny uses (burns) fluid, does that mean it's on it's way out?

Depends. If you're getting white smoke out the back of the exhaust like I was, it is most likely the Vacuum Modulator that needs replacing. Easy to fix. Otherwise another problem is seals.

yup,i had to replace one acouple yrs back.basically unscrew and screw new one back in.
