chriskatana Posted June 30, 2005 Share Posted June 30, 2005 My Legacy AWD tranny has officially Shait!, it will only go in reverse. tha only Junk yard cars I can find are FWD, is this a doable swap? or is it the same tranny but the addition on the transfer case makes it an AWD. I really need to get this car back on the road, and am willing to give up the AWD if going with a FWD tranny will work. Thanks for your help. Legacy777 Posted July 1, 2005 Share Posted July 1, 2005 It should work. You'll probably need a FWD transmission computer as well. You'll also need a FWD trans mount too. idosubaru Posted July 1, 2005 Share Posted July 1, 2005 sometimes FWD and AWD trans use the same TCU (transmission computer), so you may not need that. you should be able to find an AWD trans for it if you look around though. keep trying, replacing with a stock trans would be nice. whatever you get, install an aftermarket trans cooler when you install the next trans.
