Squeeks when I turn the wheel

Featured Replies

My 97 OBW (101k miles) will make a squeeking sound when I turn corners at low speed. This is a power steering thing I think because it happens even when the car is stopped. I've heard somewhere that loose belts can cause this?

The squeek I'm describing is a much-quieted version of that car you see tooling down the road screeching along - except mine is PS related.

Thanks!

Reid

when is the last time you changed your belts? sounds like its loose just push on it and see how much slack you have, you can tighten belts with belt adjuster mounted in front of the belts.

I only recently bought the car, so I've personally never checked them. I have the Haynes manual, can you tell me which belts I should tension?

Thanks!

Reid
