Which is better and why: the hot wire, or the flapper. Just wondering, because I can get a flapper for a good price. I currently have a hot wire and it seems like I have to clean it to make it run right about evey 2-3 months.

You want a hot wire, you cant plug a flapper in to your loom. Hotwires are supposed to be better anyway.

If you have to clean it that often, i would suspect there is something wrong.

They are supposed to get very hot for a few seconds after you turn you car off to burn any crap off.
