xoomer
Well, After all that hard work.... either my motor is shot... or the drivers side head gasket it dead.... wow..... I cant get it to stop shooting coolant every were.... looks like it must be in bad shape... time for a rebuild.. Anyway if that is the case.. does anyone have (in seattle area) that they would be willing to loan... -Engine Stand. -Engine Hoist? I'm not giving up yet... I found a rebuildable turbo (oil pump went bad.) for 125.00 between the two I should be able to build a decent motor... JDM Motors are just out of the question currently... any other Ideas for getting a motor... or does anyone know of a wrecked or somehow unwanted turbo sub for relativly cheap?? samo
If no one is able to loan you one, Aurora Rents on 175th and Aurora has nice big engine hoists for rent, and they're cheap. Nice thing is, they collapse and will fit easily in the back of a Subaru.
$ubaroo
define shooting coolent every where? out the tail pipe? i just bought a 86 turbo the people didn't want to spend any more money on it it was pissing water everywhere too, turns out it was the O ring that goes into the top of the water pump from the rad hose, i put a coat of high heat silicon around it let it dry over night and no more leaks.. Worst case drivers head gasket is a big job but not that challenging i done a few now..

$ubaroo
Ouch.. I did same thing even with a used head and then having it tested and doing it all my self it wasn't cheap.. I hope you used a Subaru head gasket and not an aftermarket one.. I've seen guys save a few $$ and use aftermarket head gasket, and when they were doing the job again 6 months later they woundered exaclty how much thay saved..
