85 Gl Clutch Question?

The clutch on my 85 Gl was just replaced. The Clutch Cable then broke and the guy who was driving the car put a regular cable in there- non OEM. So anyways the rocker arm the the cable attaches to is sorta flopping around loose. The car will go into all gears without puching in the clutch except it wont go into reverse. it seems like the rocker arm became disconnected from whatever engages and disengages the clutch. is there a way to fix this without pulling the engine again? Thanks
