I have a friend that was looking at a couple of 92 legacy wagons and asked if it was possible to convert 2wd to all wheel and how hard would it be? Would it be worth the hassle?

Possible? Yes

 

Hard? Yes

 

Worth it? Doubtfull. Only way I'd see it as wrothwhile is if you could get the 2WD vehicle + all the AWD parts for cheaper than just buying an AWD vehicle. Let's also factor in time and know-how to actually accomplish the task.
