Have a 84 GL. When I turn on the key, it indicates that the door is open, but will not start or the lights will not come on. Have check the fuses. The starter works if I short it. Any suggestions??

Check the connection at the battery and fusible link box next to the battery. Also, check the fusible links themselves. If all the checks out then look at the connection of the ignition switch. It is a pink connector under the steering column.
