August 20, 200520 yr How the heck do you get the foot rest from an early 90's soob 5spd with out destroying it? I felt around for a screw head but could not find it. Anyone know the secret? Is there a chant, or secret password perhaps? I'm trying to take it out of a dead soob and put it into my working soob, which for some reason, had it's taken out before I bought it.
August 20, 200520 yr The diamond plate surface pattern is a right angled piece of plastic that is glued down with the body sealer goop that they use around the taillights. use a hair dryer to heat up the whole thing, not melting the plastic by the way, and then gently pry off the tread piece. Under that is 2 10mm bolts that hold the block on. Then just reverse the steps to get it into your car.

August 20, 200520 yr The ones I've salvaged are hinged on the outer side. I was able to reach to the forward front edge with my fingers and slowly pull that edge loose (the sticky stuff is pretty persistant). Then the tread part should flip toward the outside and expose the three bolt heads.
