Turbo "boost light" clarifying question

Featured Replies

is it supposed to indicate when the turbo is boosting?

in normal driving when do most see it illuminate and until what RPM?

mine flickers on around 2k and will be lit until about 4000, then go out. Intermitantly it won't come on at all.

Should stay lit all the way to redline, unless you let off the gas. I've noticed that under very light throttle, mine comes on very easily between 3500-4500rpm. But if you're putting your foot down, it should come on at around 2500-3000 and stay on until you let your foot off the gas or shift.

That being said... with my ported and polished VF7, my boost light will come on at 1500rpm when giving lots of gas and clutch to get started from a stop on a 10% grade.

The boost light will only come on when your manifold reaches a positive pressure. IF the light isnt comming on, then the turbo isnt boosting enough to create possitive pressure. That, or the light is funky.

Install a boost gauge and forget the light exists.
