August 29, 200520 yr Hi! I think my fan is doing to much work . As soon as I start my car the cooling fan (next to the radiator) starts to go about 30 seconds, then rest for 30 secs and so on. Is that normal? I could understand if it did that when the engine is hot but it does that even if it had stand for the night. Any thoughts? /Bjornis
August 30, 200520 yr Author Is your defrost or AC on? If so, the fans will be on. No ac and no defrost but still does the same. Also, sometimes during acceleration it feels like the car "misses a beat", is it the fan kicking in I am feeling?
August 31, 200520 yr The fan kicking in shouldn't cause that, however the AC compressor kicking in could.Other then that, not sure I can be of much help without knowing more. I'm assuming you've checked your coolant level in the radiator right?
August 31, 200520 yr My wifes '03 Outback wagon does the same thing. Mostly when the AC is on, but at other times as well. In her car, it has been determined to be normal.
