I recently purchases a 98 forester. Are the doodads on the luggage compartment walls built-in top tether anchorages for car seats or are they just for tiedowns for other accessories?

The car did not come with an owner's manual and for some reason the My.Subaru. com web site is not working for me today.

In my 2002 Legacy GT Wagon the 3 built in tether anchor points for car seats are located in the cargo area, on top, and in the back. I think from your description, you're looking at the child seat tether anchor points.
